Yost.

Well we had an adventure this past weekend...

We headed off to Yost (Utah.. almost Idaho) to hang out with Ryan, Katie, Katie's parents, Jack and Ella at their cabin.  Nate and I didn't know how to get there and we made it pretty close before we got completely lost.  :) Our GPS sent us one way which didn't really match up to our mapquest or Ryan's direction but they weren't making sense either so we kept going only to find ourselves up a canyon with the snow getting deeper and deeper and deeper.  We knew we weren't on the right road but it was too late to turn around.  Before long, we were stuck.  Our little Ford Focus was completely buried and Nate's pushing wasn't even moving it anymore.  If we got lost, Katie and Ryan were going to come looking for us at 8:00.  It was 7:00 when we were stuck.  We decided we needed to get down the canyon and try and meet them or knock on one of the very few houses we saw driving up.

We walked and walked and walked in our snow clothes in the freezing cold.  5 miles later we ended up at a house and knocked on the door.  There was only a little boy there and he said his parents weren't home but his uncle lived a little ways down the road and he would call him.  We started walking again towards his uncle's house and soon a group of them picked us up.  They went and grabbed another truck and we headed up the mountain to get us out.  The farther we went up the mountain the more impressed they were with our little car.  I kept telling them the farther up we get, the more embarrassed I feel.  They were soooo nice and kept just laughing with us.  They got our car out without a lot of trouble explained to us where we went wrong and we were on our way.  It was around 10 when we met up with Ryan and Katie as they were leaving the cabin to go and look for us again.  Thankfully, we met them before they left.

It was an adventure.  I was nervous but Nate held my hand the entire way and would look back at me and ask, "How are you?" every few minutes.  He would gently nudge me on and say "We'll stop when we get to the first house, we need to keep up this pace."  We were very blessed that the uncle was home because it was a few more miles until we would even be able to knock on another house and there was no way Ryan and Katie would've looked for us where we were.

The rest of the weekend was a lot of fun.  We made a few fires, hiked around, worked on the cabin, played with the kids, and went to some hot pots.  They weren't regular hot pots... they were pools that were heated with the hot pot water.  It was probably one of the funniest nights I've ever had.  When you get Ryan and Nate together, you're always in for something.

It will be a weekend we'll never forget.

Now we're home and tired and sore but happy and warm.
